(Prior to Arduino 1.0, this instead removed any buffered incoming serial data.). Press 1 on the key board and an led lights up on the arduino. I then want to clear the serial port to erase anything else, because if I press a. Serial.readBytesUntil() reads characters from the serial buffer into an array. The function terminates if the terminator character is detected, the determined length has been read, or it times out (see Serial.setTimeout()). Serial.readBytesUntil() returns the number of characters read into the buffer. A 0 means no valid data was found. Firstly, we have the command 'Serial.begin(9600)'. This starts serial communication, so that the Arduino can send out commands through the USB connection. The value 9600 is called the 'baud rate' of the connection. This is how fast the data is to be sent. You can change this to a higher value, but you will also have to change the Arduio Serial monitor to the same value. We will discuss this later, but for now leave it at 9600. The line beginning with 'while' ensures that there is something at the other end of the USB connection for the Arduino to talk to before it starts sending messages. Otherwise, the message might be sent, but not displayed. This line is actually only necessary if you are using an Arduino Leonardo, because the Arduino Uno automatically resets the Arduino board when you open the Serial Monitor, whereas this does not happen with the Leonardo. The last of the new lines in 'setup' sends out the message that we see at the top of the serial monitor. The 'loop' function is where all the action happens. This reads the next character from the buffer, and removes it from the buffer. It also assigns it to the variable 'ch'. The variable 'ch' is of type 'char' which stands for 'character' and as the name suggests, holds a single character. If you have followed the instructions in the prompt at the top of the Serial Monitor, then this character will either be a single digit number between 0 and 7 or the letter 'x'. The 'if' statement on the next line checks to see if it is a single digit by seeing if 'ch' is greater than or equal to the character '0' and less than or equal to the character '7'. It looks a little strange comparing characters in this way, but is perfectly acceptable. Each character is represented by a unique number, called its ASCII value. This means that when we compare characters using = it is actually the ASCII values that were being compared. If the test passes, then we come to the next line. The first line uses Serial.print rather than Serial.println. The different between the two is that Serial.print does not start a new line after printing whatever is in its parameter. Remove Buffered Serial Data Arduino Lcd TvWe use this in the first line, because we are printing the message in two parts. Firstly the general bit: 'Turned on LED ' and then the number of the LED. The number of the LED is held in an 'int' variable rather than being a text string. Serial.print can take either a text string enclosed in double-quotes, or an 'int' or for that matter pretty much any type of variable. After the 'if' statement that handles the case, when a single digit has been handled, there is a second 'if' statement that checks to see if 'ch' is the letter 'x'. I2C depends strongly on timing. So normaly, during a I2C communication every interrupt should be disabled / suppressed (including Serial Communication) Also, some display (types) have specific timings for accessing the different lines and pages (means timing between different writing activities). Normally this is specified in the data sheet of the controller. Please keep in mind: the Spark-delay function is not a true delay, cause they can also end up in a cloud communication or housekeeping activities (if the delay value is high enough). BulldogLowell: “Excessive” Is there some kind of limit, you think? There is no “hard” limit as such. The thing is that, in the current implementation of String, a lot of possible string manipulations (possibly unexpected by the programmer/user) cause the allocation of a new chunk of heap space (min. 16byte) and freeing of others. And since garbage collection of freed space is not working perfectly (yet) this might/will either lead to heap exhaustion or other data corruptions. This is why I prefere to limit the use of String to the absolute minimum - e.g. Libraries demand String as parameter. But for the sake of trapping the source of your display errors, you may want to check if the faulty strings only appear on the LCD or also in your debug output. If the latter than I’d suspect a problem in the string handling. As your videos show the display corruption does seem to be limited to string boundaries and not within your strings. If it was a timing or electrical reason the corruptions should appear all over the place. To me it seems as if there was maybe one faulty string that placed the extra characters on the display and since you never rewrite these screen positions the glitch persists. As a workaround, if you build up your four display lines as full strings with blanks, you will immediately wipe the corrupt characters away. It would be nice to see a video that actually shows the transition from correct to faulty display. I’d guess not, but since I’m not a I2C expert or might have more pointers for you. Remove Buffered Serial Data Arduino Lcd SoundsystemJust to tick off some common problems ( -; I see you’ve just edited something I wanted to address;- ). Have you attached some external I2C pull-ups (e.g. 4k7) or does your display provide its own? Avoid parallel pull-ups (including internal ones) since they reduce the over-all resistance resulting in making pulling signal low harder for the attached devices (higher current to drain). Maybe you could also provide a sketch of your hardware setup (DHT??, LCD??, pull-up/down resistors, power source, ). Peekay123: what is the LCD power voltage? I am powering the LCD from one side of the breadboard power supply, 5V. The Spark is on the other side of the same power supply, 5V too. Remove Buffered Serial Data Arduino Lcd ScreenI have to insist, much like, this device is powered and connected consistent with it working properly as demonstrated in other applications it may be electronic nonetheless. I thought I might be getting a ripple and have tried caps of many different sizes on the LCD display. In no case did it prove to help me. Remove Buffered Serial Data Arduino Lcd SystemRemoving the pullups didn’t help either. So, I am down to some electronic cause or something in Spark’s I2C. Given that others have had this problem, I think we are looking at I2C. That being said, I didn’t find anyone with issues with other I2C devices in the world of I2C, these LCD’s don’t seem like they are all that demanding. I’m befuddled. I’ll attach a oscilloscope tonight and we can get some better data. Sennheiser Service Manuals & schematics. 480 PDF files (Adobe Reader X) on DVD R. EK 300 IEM G2 service manual. Hello everyone, Lately I've been working on a massive custom build for Super Smash Bros. Brawl which needs a lot of files (~3GB) to be loaded from the SD card. However, I came across a critical problem: Dolphin fails to load files copied after 2GB have been used, in spite of the total size of the SD card (I've tried 4GB, 8GB and 32GB). After some digging, I discovered that Dolphin doesn't support the SDHC standard (4-32GB), but I have an idea: Currently, there are non-SDHC cards up to 4GB, so I wonder if it would be possible to create and edit a virtual non-SDHC 4GB SD card so that it works with Dolphin. So far, I've tried, but not limited to: - Making an sd.raw with Easy Dolphin SDCard Maker - Making an sd.raw with mksdcard - Editing with WinImage - Editing with ImDisk driver - Dumping a real SD card with WinImage > Read function - Dumping a virtual SD card by making an sd.raw, mounting it with ImDisk driver and dumping it with WinImage's Read function - Installing Wii Menu 4.0+ (which is supposed to allow +2GB cards as described ) I'd appreciate it so much if someone helped me figure this out, or let me know if it is even possible. If it's not, I'd like to bring attention to where another user has the same issue I have, so I wonder if it's possible to implement SDHC support in Dolphin in the future. Use x360ce if you want to add any other gamepad, wheel, etc. Also don't forget that you can still play the game with the keyboard pressing the [Spacebar] (default 'Start' button) 20 Comments. Just for the record though if you were to plug in a Non-SDHC 4GB card into a Wii it wouldn't work without SDHC support anyway, because I believe it had a limit of 2GB on top of the Non-SDHC requirement. If possible I'd recommend creating an iso patch until this is fixed in Dolphin. I haven't messed around with brawl hacking in years though, so this is all I know. That project looks awesome btw. Will definitely give it a try. (, 12:09 AM)Kurausukun Wrote: Even if the Wii menu supports SDHC cards, Brawl still cannot use SDHC cards because the IOS it loads is not compatible with SDHC.
